Winning R&R Ice Cream produced at Leeming Bar
R & R Ice Cream has continued its winning streak at the annual British Frozen Food Federation awards – the “Oscars” of the frozen food industry – with two awards.
The company took the Gold award in the Best New Ice Cream/Ice Cream Dessert category with its Toffee Honeycomb Ice Cream made for Marks & Spencer. This range is produced at the firm’s site at Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire.
Their Skinny Cow four Tropical Whirl Smoothies, which are made at the firm’s Crossgates factory, won the Bronze Award in the same category.
Since the BFFF awards were first launched 19 years ago, Richmond is the only company to have won the Retail Product of the Year category five times. With the two awards won at the 2007 event, the company has now won a total of 30 awards.
Wayne Bate, production manager at the Leeming Bar factory, said: “I am delighted that our toffee honeycomb tub has won a Gold award. This is a big endorsement of the manufacturing skills we have at this site and further proof of our ability to produce innovative products that really appeal to shoppers. Unlike other awards, the judging panels at the BFFF are made up of consumers from across the UK so their views are of great value.”
