R&R Ice Cream – Europe’s largest own label ice cream manufacturer – has scooped a top industry award.

R&R ICE CREAM SCOOPS TOP INDUSTRY AWARD

R&R Ice Cream - Europe's largest own label ice cream manufacturer - has scooped a top industry award.  The firm, which has production sites at Leeming Bar in North Yorkshire and Crossgates in Leeds, was judged Frozen Foods Manufacturer of the Year at the 2011 Food Manufacturing Excellence Awards.

This year's prestigious awards were announced during a glittering evening at London's Park Plaza Riverbank which celebrated the best in food and drink manufacturing.  Comedian Hugh Dennis, regular panellist on Mock the Week, hosted the sell-out event which was attended by 430 guests.

The judges praised R&R saying: "R&R demonstrated a clear strategy which produced some very impressive improvements in its supply chain."

Peter Pickthall, HR & training director at R&R Ice Cream, said: "This is a tremendous achievement of which everyone at R&R can justifiably feel proud. These awards are highly-prized and attract entries from the UK's top food manufacturing firms so it is very rewarding to be judged No 1 in our sector."

R&R also narrowly missed out on a second award in the same week having been shortlisted in the People & Skills category at the 2011 Manufacturer of the Year Awards.
